Raymond Palmer, 55, of Lincoln Park, Mich., won the Championship
the first year he was eligible. In the final he defeated Walter
D. Bronson, of Chicago, 3 and 2, at the Shinnecock Hills Golf
Club, Southampton, N.Y.
Dexter H. Daniels, of Winter Haven Fla., the defending Champion,
failed to qualify for match play. Palmer, J. Wolcott Brown,
of Sea Girt, N.J., and David Goldman, Sr., of Dallas, tied
for medalist with 153.
